| Sister Speaks Out About Sex Offender Operating Bike Shop
OREGON CITY, Ore. -- There are new developments in the controversy surrounding a convicted child molester running a small business. Harry Garrett, 54, is running a bike shop on Main Street in Oregon City. He has applied for a business license in the city and will operate the shop while the license is under consideration, according to police. Convicted of sex abuse and sodomy in 2000, Garrett's crimes involved male and female children between 9 and 15 years old. Garretts sister, Debbie Hurst, said he abused their children and she wants neighbors to know who theyre dealing with. .
Irondequoit to Better Track Renters
It's one of Rochester's fastest growing communities, and many who own property in the Town of Irondequoit are trying to cash in. Those who already live there are hoping a recently passed town ordinance will make landlords and future tenants live up to their responsibilities. The new law will help the town keep a close eye on rental properties, and whether or not they're being maintained properly. It's something all who live there have a stake in. Taking care of a piece of property all by yourself can be a handful, especially in the fall. "There's always raking, there's painting inside and updating appliances," said Bev Spayde. "All kinds of things and in actuality, it's a job," she said. Spayde has been taking care of a piece of property in Irondequoit for six years.
Red Wings Open Holiday Store
If you have a Rochester Red Wing fan on your holiday shopping list, the team has plenty of things that would go great under the tree. The holiday sale that began the Saturday after Thanksgiving has become a Red Wing tradition. People get a chance to pick out some merchandise in the store, or buy packages, holiday packs and coupon books. Minnesota infielder Tommy Watkins was there to meet his fans and sign autographs. "Only 139 days until opening day. So baseball season will be here before you know it. It's great place to come down and pick something up for the fan in your life," said Dan Mason, Red Wings general manager. For those who missed this weekend's sale, the store is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and every Saturday up until Christmas.
